Our History

What Drives Us

Airedales of Tennessee is located in the Historic Homesteads of the Cumberland Mountains, Crossville, Tennessee.  We have always lived in Tennessee and moved to Crossville in 2014 to start our Homestead experience. We try, much as our ancestors lived, to use the land and resources to sustain our living with of course the advantages of todays technology. We grow our vegetables, herbs and fruits. We raise Chickens and Nubian while enjoying the benefits of farm fresh eggs year round. Our Pyrenees are working dogs that provide protection for our little Homestead. They truly are an amazing breed of beautiful dogs born with a purpose, to guard and protect all the other animals. The chickens and ducks keep the bug population at bay, spread the natural fertilize and aerate the ground. They also supply nutrition for our substance. The Nubians “natural fertilize” is harvested for garden compost which in turn supplies a variety and balance of vegetables, berries and fruits.  Now, last but certainly not least, “Airedales of Tennessee” .   The Airedales are capable of so much.  They can do anything, have fearless attitude and an unsurpassed heart to please.  As Theodore Roosevelt said “The Airedale can do anything any other dog can do and then whip the other dog if needed”.  Our Airedales are high bred with excellent pedigrees producing beautiful dogs of conformation and intelligence.   The Airedale is known for its hunting capabilities, retrieving skills and loyalty as a family protector.  All this is true and so much more.  I would like to tell you that this is what endears us  to the Airedale breed but that would not be true.  Our love of the breed is so much more simple.  It is the pure love of the inquisitive, playful, loving and loyalty of the breed.  Our enjoyment comes from the playfulness, and sometimes even goofy antics and yes the undying loyalty of the breed.  Simply a breed you cannot help but admire and love.

We are now offering the Wire Fox Terrier.  A smaller version of the Airedale but just as much fun and a personality that makes it the perfect family dog.

If you love the Terrier breeds and want something smaller with much of the same intelligence, determination and loving family attitude then the Wire Fox Terrier is for you.  The Wire fox is easily trained, energetic, and loves the attention of its Human family.  Averaging 16 to 22 pounds makes it the perfect size for a traveling companion and household pet.  Known to be great with children is adaptable to any family life.

(AKC description)

The Wire Fox Terrier, 16 to 22 pounds of coiled energy is a sturdy, symmetrical, short-backed hunter with fire and intelligence shining in its dark, round eyes. The predominantly white coat is rough and wiry; the V-shaped ears are neatly folded forward, the better to point up the face's distinctive, and completely irresistible, expression. Wires are delightful pets for families looking for an upbeat, friendly companion with loads of personality. As terriers, they possess the typical independence and prey drive of this feisty canine clan. They are smart and companionable; training can be a challenge but by no means impossible. Excellent athletes, natural comedians, and charming housemates, Wires are long-lived and low-shedding.
